EC Oil

Change task in an instant

The new upgraded EC-Oil is engcon’s system for hydraulic and electrical connection of hydraulic tools and attachments, specially adapted for our series of tiltrotators. As the sole supplier we can help you with a total solution – from control systems, hitches and tools, to support and safety analyses.

The EC-Oil is designed for maximum operational safety in demanding environments. It is the market’s only fully hydraulic hitch that can tackle connecting pressurised tools and attachments at full system pressure. The proprietary oil and electrical connectors are designed to be even more resistant to the often tough working conditions for excavators. The connectors are the most durable on the market – proven through destructive testing at 400 bar operating pressure and innumerable tests in contaminated environments.

New generation of tiltrotators

The next generation of tiltrotators is here: the 2 series. The new design and strengthened frame have radically improved performance. The EC219, compared to the equivalent tiltrotator in the B-series, has 37 % greater breakout force and 27 % higher torque. The hydraulic motor has been moved to the left-hand side, where it is well protected and visible to the operator. The new tiltrotators are fitted with a central lubrication system and are adapted for high-flow swivel use.

Hydraulic tools

engcon’s hydraulic tools are designed for optimal function together with the EC-Oil and engcon’s tiltrotators. Together they create a system of tools that make your work proceed quickly, efficiently and profitably.

Fully hydraulic quick hitches

The EC-Oil has no visible hoses or electrical cables that move around when connecting. This reduces the risk of pinch injuries and wear and tear. There is also mechanical protection which prevents the bracket being incorrectly connected, reducing the risk of breakdown.

The in-built pressure relief valve enables the tool to be changed whilst maintaining complete system pressure. When maximum breakout force is needed the tiltrotator can easily be disconnected. This also saves weight, which means fuel savings and a better total economy.

Mechanical tools

engcon offers a wide-ranging tool and attachment programme, adapted to your specific needs. The tools and attachments are manufactured in high-quality steel and are designed to provide the greatest flexibility and crack resistance. The wear and cutting steel has a hardness of around 500 brinell. We also reinforce our tools with Hardox on the most exposed positions to manage an extra tough load.

Finally – fully hydraulic hitches are available to everyone. Fully hydraulic hitches have been around for many years but because of their high price, they were only ever used for special jobs. The simplicity of EC-Oil™ changes all this.

The new upgraded EC-Oil™ is engcon’s system for the hydraulic and electrical connection of hydraulic tools and attachments, and is specially adapted for our new series of tiltrotators and our new, Q-Safe™ quick coupler. As sole supplier we are able to provide total solutions – from control systems, couplers and tools to support and safety analyses.

Use EC-Oil for instant tool and attachment changes directly from the cab. Using EC-Oil on the tool hitch, above and below the tiltrotator and on the tool itself you can, if necessary, under maximum breakout force disconnect from the tiltrotator and connect the quick coupler directly to a hydraulic or mechanical tool or attachment.
This saves weight, which means fuel savings and a better overall economy.
EC-Oil also includes automatically connected central lubrication. Together they create a system of tools that make your work proceed quickly, efficiently and profitably.

EC-Oil is the market’s only fully hydraulic coupler system able to handle the connection of pressurised tools and attachments at full system pressure. The proprietary oil and electrical connections are designed to be even more resistant to the tough conditions excavators often have to work in. The connectors are the most durable on the market – proven through burst tests at 400 bar operating pressure and field tests in dirty environments.

The new EC-Oil is available on engcon’s new-generation tiltrotators, the new, Q-Safe™ quick coupler and all hydraulic tools and attachments from autumn 2013.

Flow rates – information EC-Oil

Regarding flow, it is also important to consider the back pressure that arises. Low back pressure means low flow rates, and vice versa.
This also makes it difficult to provide general values as these depend on circumstances on the supply side from the machine and from EC-Oil to the tool concerned.
It is necessary to consider the entire system’s flow capacity in relation to current back pressure.

The flows below apply to the Q-Safe hitch fully equipped with twin EC-Oil blocks with 4 hydraulic connections.
The values are calculated on the EC-Oil block in the excavator’s quick hitch. Added to this is the back pressure up to the EC-Oil block and from the block to the tool concerned. Additional back pressure will occur with the use of a tiltrotator. However, it is difficult to provide an exact value as there are several factors to consider such as hoses, connection dimensions and bending radii etc.

Yet another factor is the tool itself (e.g. hydraulic hammer, ground compactor etc.). Here, performance and maximum back pressure must be checked in each individual case.

Flows, Q-Safe machine hitch with one EC-Oil block.

EC-Oil 45 (3/8”)    60 l/min at 5 bar back pressure
EC-Oil 60 (1/2”)    80 l/min at 5 bar back pressure
EC-Oil 70 (3/4”)    120 l/min at 5 bar back pressure

Flows can be increased by using twin blocks.
